The Commonwealth Centre for Connected Learning (3CL) 2018 conference Blockchain, Credentials and Connected Learning opens tomorrow, 17th May in Malta.
It brings together speakers ranging from educators, technologists and decision-makers to policy-makers and entrepreneurs to discuss the present and future of notorizing credentials and the use of technology in education. The conference programme focuses on four overarching themes which guide the various keynotes, workshops and pitch sessions. They are: connected learning through blockchain, learning and earning, decentralising education, and sovereignty and identity.
“It was the notion of distributed ledgers and disintermediation of power systems that got me interested in Blockchain, along with a hunch that an EdTech project which would provide young people with ownership of their credentials and transcripts would resonate with policy makers in my country,” explained Dr Alex Grech, conference chair and executive Director of 3CL. “We are all stakeholders in putting the blockchain to mindful use in education.”
